Industries Served by Newcon Co

Mining Industry

NewCon valves are being used extensively across several continents in the following mineral processing applications:

  • Taconite/Iron Ore
  • Copper concentrating/Tailings
  • Gold
  • Soda Ash/Borax
  • Phosphate
  • Lead
  • Coal
  • Cement
  • Lime/Limestone

NewCon completed a copper tailings expansion project in North America, where we replaced 60 of our competitor’s valves with 28”, 36”, and 40” NewCon knife gate slurry valves. We provided Codelco, the world’s largest copper producer, with over 100 large diameter valves for a tailings line expansion at Chuquicamata in Chile, and have been successful in installing our valves in several of the major copper concentrators in Chile.

Our worldwide installed base continues to grow in mining projects in countries such as Laos, Brazil, Argentina, China, and Australia, among others. In 2006, we provided over 500 valves for a concentrator and tailings project at Phelps Dodge’s Cerro Verde mine in Southern Peru. Please contact us today for our Mining project and reference lists.

Power Industry

NewCon valves are used by coal fired power plants around the world. Throughout North America most major utilities are using NewCon knife gate valves.

Recently, our valves have been used on major FGD projects:

  • Westar Energy –Jefferies – 427 valves
  • First Energy – Sammis - 260 valves
  • Duke Energy – Gibson – 219 valves

Today, an increasing number of major FGD projects are specified with NewCon valves. Babcock Power, Babcock and Wilcox, Alstom Power, Black and Veatch, URS/Washington Group, and other major engineering firms serving utility companies have come to trust NewCon Company.

If your knife gate valve is wearing prematurely, doesn’t isolate, suffers from gate bending, or leaks, consider NewCon valves as the solution.
